CARBORUNDUMS

Series Introduction

Carborundum printmaking is a technique that uses glue and carborundum sand to create the image, which is then printed in an intaglio press.

Miro and Tapies where among the first artists to use the process in the 1960’s. I began making carborundum plates in the 80’s when I was taking care of the Finnish Printmaker’s printing workshop in Helsinki. Using offset plates and carborundum sand were cheap and you could make bigger works easily. My first carborundums where shown in Gallery Kaj Forsblom in 1989.
